Answer: The bones and tissues of your mouth may atrophy, or shrink, over the years or with weight gain or loss. This situation leads to dentures not fitting correctly. Sometimes a reline restores your dentures to a good fit. However, if you have worn your dentures for quite a few years, or the bases are not in good shape, it may be time for new dentures. Using more denture adhesive to make your dentures fit better may cause more significant bone loss and other issues with how your dentures fit. We advise consulting with the office for a consultation to find the optimal solution. ![]() ![]() Question: I was told I needed a Deep Cleaning. What does that mean? Answer: Scaling and Root Planning is a nonsurgical procedure that is used to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth and below the gums. This type of dental treatment can assist in stopping the progression of gum disease. All our teeth sit in a pocket that has many periodontal ligaments surrounding it. Healthy gum tissue has pocket depths of 1-3 mm. Once your pocket depths reach 4 mm and beyond, the deep cleaning called Scaling & Root Planning, is required in order to bring your gums back to a healthy status. The hygienist will numb the area to be worked on and clean deep into the pocket to remove the bacteria and calculus that has accumulated in the area. ![]() ![]() Question: Why do I need to have X-rays taken? Answer: X-rays are essential because they allow us to detect decay situations in hidden places between teeth and under existing fillings. X-rays can also identify other problems, such as infected areas, the development of gum disease, abscesses and cysts, and some kinds of tumors. ![]() ![]() Question: What days and times are you open?
